"Sometimes you need to break rules to get somewhere"

- I've always believed in creations that evoke a certain feeling.

About Helen

Ceramics started as a hobby for me while I was working in Upper Bavaria. My teacher, Tina Pause has her studio in Wolfratshausen. I also learnt a lot from Frankie at Yeevia Studio,  Kuala Lumpur. Nearly 25 years of shaping clay in Germany and Malaysia, I am now taking this craft further and sharing my expertise. Since retirement, I have set up a small pottery workshop, tucked away in the the Munich foothills. In this cosy space I offer pottery classes and let my imagination roam. Pop by to take a closer look at my work. At the moment I am creating a family of "character plant pots".

Process

I purchase the clay from a wholesaler, throw, handbuild, fire and glaze my work in an electric kiln.

Selection of materials

I work with all kinds of clay to make my creations.

Crafting

I throw all kinds of vessels on my Shimpo wheel but also like handbuilding pots and animals.

When I am not potting you will find me painting, and sometimes I combine the two.
